It is somewhat more common to use "ticket" or "support ticket" for the items that help-desk software tracks, and to use "issue" for the items that a software development tracker tracks. Although these terms are only loosely defined and often they are used interchangeably, there is, I think, a mild tendency toward keeping them distinct. Since it is a useful distinction for our purposes, let's make it.
